Divas Doing Good Presents DIVA DAYS!

October 27th, 2008

Earlier this year, the folks at Divas Doing Good asked us if we would be interested in participating in their inaugural DIVA DAYS program, and we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this special event.  We thought, “Help people save money this hectic holiday season, help brighten the days of the kids at Kapiolani Medical Center, help get our Shop Toast goods to the masses…hmmmm, it’s a win-win-win situation!”

So here’s a brief rundown on how it works: Buy a Diva Days shopping pass for only $10. Ticket sales will go to buy Christmas gifts for the children at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Next, take your pass and use it to buy holiday gifts at boutiques around the island – and online too – on November 1-2. This pass gets you a cool 20% off your total purchase at each location.

You can purchase passes directly from our shoptoast.com online store, or head down to The Wedding Cafe at Warehouse! What are you waiting for?! Get a head start on your holiday shopping list now!  SHOP! SHOP! SHOP!

BOO…the BOO!ZU Boys are back in town!

October 2nd, 2008

They’re baaaaaccckkkkk!!!! Meet Jax, Cross, Vein, and Frank - the BOO!ZU Boys.  Our modern version of the traditional Japanese teru teru boozu “good weather charm” has finally arrived, in time to help keep the rain away and scare up a bounty’s load of sweet Halloween treats!  Hang him up at home, or better yet, take him along as you make the rounds in your neighborhood.

Boozu Boys

Adopt one, two, three, or SPLURGE and get the entire set of 4 (there are special savings on shoptoast.com if you purchase the entire set)!  After all, why risk the possibility of bad weather as you trick-or-treat the night away?  Each ghost’s head is filled with a surprise assortment of gummy body parts, mini retro pez candy, plastic spider rings, and glow-in-the-dark vampire fangs! They even come pre-packaged in clear plastic boxes, tagged and ready to give away. SWEET!

Boozu Boys

You can purchase them directly from us, or if you’re on Oahu, you can save on shipping costs and head down to either The Wedding Cafe at Ward Warehouse or the Menehune Mac Factory Store (Waiakamilo…and an opening-soon location at Kahala Mall in the former Blush space). Happy Trick-or-Treating!

Another reason to be excited today was the soft opening of The Wedding Cafe’s new resource center, the ultimate wedding information hub in Hawaii!  They’re still putting up the final touches, but it’s already looking great!  Congrats TWC!

Wedding Cafe - 7th Anniversary Party

September 16th, 2008

Our friends at The Wedding Cafe just celebrated their 7th Anniversary!  CONGRATS!   Our favorite wedding diva (and owner of the cafe) Tanna had contacted us weeks earlier to help create a cool party favor to match the Pussycat Lounge-esque theme of the party.  We jumped at the opportunity, and this is what we came up with:

Wedding Cafe Anniversary Favors

Promoting the GREEN philosophy of the Wedding Cafe clan, we decided to do a hot pink version (one of the event colors) of our up and coming line of 100% cotton handkerchiefs: “don’t blow it: good planets are hard to find!” (look for it to launch within the next few weeks!)  Each eco-conscious hankie was wrapped in a wood sleeve, printed to match the party’s invitation design, and finished off with a satin ribbon and pink heart charm.  Eco-friendly and Pussycat dolls…a match made in Wedding Cafe heaven!

Congratulations to our friends at The Wedding Cafe!  Here’s to another FANTASTIC 7 years of success!  Happy Birthday to Tanna as well - 30 never looked so good!

Heart Stump - NEW Eco-Friendly Favor Line

September 10th, 2008

We’re happy to announce the launch of our new favor line: Heart Stump!  We’ve jumped on the eco-bandwagon and created this 100% biodegradable wood tube to give your special day a GREEN touch…green = eco-conscious, not sickly! (for those of you wondering…)

Heart Stump

These 3-1/2″ tall handmade wood tubes come personalized with both you and your love’s initials, as well as the date of your special day.  They can either be ordered empty, so you can fill them with your own treats, OR you can go the total GREEN route and have us prefill them with a 100% cotton handkerchief printed in a matching heart motif - the idea is that the use of handkerchiefs will reduce the amount of waste created by paper towels and facial tissues.  Each Heart Stump is held closed by a raffia ribbon available in 4 colors.

Please visit our CUSTOM FAVOR page to view the ordering options for this new favor line.  We’re making it easy to be GREEN!

“Put a pat of butter on me…” - Honolulu Weekly

September 6th, 2008

Did you get your copy of the last week’s Honolulu Weekly (page 14, if you’re wondering…)?  If not, you missed out on a great article featuring Shop Toast (*wink* *wink*)! Margot from the Weekly made us blush as she mentioned our current lineup and some upcoming new items…it even got US excited about our own store!

Honolulu Weekly

One of the things we’re really excited about is the re-release of our popular BOO!ZU BOYS Halloween ghosts, which will be available sometime in October.  Be sure to sign up for our email newsletter so you’ll know the moment they become available!  Thanks, Margot!

Happy 1st Birthday, Griffin!

August 25th, 2008

We’ve had this favor idea in the works for a while now, and we FINALLY got to bring it to life for my nephew’s 1st birthday party.

These 18″ pendant flag favors were filled with jelly beans in various shades of blue, and grouped together in glass cylinders to create the party’s centerpieces.  Tip: Having your favors do double duty as the centerpiece is a great idea if you want to cut down on decoration costs!

Griffin Sutherland

Toast had already designed the invitation with a pig theme (Griffin was born in the year of the pig), and we carried this motif into the custom flag and centerpiece label design.  We had a lot of fun creating this favor…look for it to possibly enter our custom favor lineup in the future!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRIFFIN!   Love, Shop Toast

Green is the New Black - Kanu Hawaii

August 18th, 2008

Did you make it down to The Wedding Cafe’s Divas Doing Good benefit “Green is the New Black” this past August 12th? If not, you missed out on a great cause, on top of the great food, drinks, and atmosphere! The event was a benefit for KANU HAWAII and their movement for Island Style Activism.  Kanu Hawaii is working to make Hawaii a model of environmental sustainability, compassionate community, and economic resilience. Visit their website and join the cause!

Green is the New Black

In addition to mingling and stuffing our faces with Hokulani Bake Shop’s delicious cupcakes, Shop Toast donated two “love fruits!” 12-fruit baskets to the silent auction! (You may have seen us in the back corner, using our mental telepathy skills to get people bidding! Hehe!)

We can’t wait until next year’s event! Congratulations to Tanna and her crew at The Wedding Cafe!
